WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT A MEET?
Age-group track meets move slowly because of the number of events being offered. We suggest you come prepared as they can last all day depending on what events your child enters. Bring a lunch, warm and dry clothing, umbrellas, seat pads, blankets, books, sunglasses, lotion, stop watches, binoculars, camera, a positive attitude and your sense of humor. Most meets do have a snack shack, however, we suggest you bring healthy snacks with you as the athletes burn a lot of energy. At the meets we will sit together as a club to promote a team spirit. As the announcer calls out the event, the athlete must report as instructed so you must listen closely. Athletes are eligible in the developmental meets simply by showing up. In the regional and national meets there are qualifying standards and pre-registration is required. The developmental meets in the beginning of the season are to provide the athlete the opportunity to try different events. We encourage all our members to take part in the Junior Olympics State meet. Eligibility for the regional and national meets are based on performance at the State JO Meet.
